St Thomas's Church, Wells, Pulpit, Font and Capitals 1857

The Taunton Courier reports on the opening of this church “The pulpit is of stone and marble, relieved with gold, rather elaborately carved with a brass book-tray. The font is also of stone and marble. Both of these works are by Forsyth of London”
The foundation stone was laid on 6th March 1856 by the widow of Dean Jenkyns' ( Dean of Wells Cathedral ) who subsequently caught a cold at the ceremony and died. The architect was Mr. S.S. Teulon
