There is an entry in William’s accounts book “ executing marble steps / fixing to chancel and new tread / to pulpit steps, alabaster cornice to / pulpit and new figure in alabaster / to centre panel also lining sides to / chancel screen with Rouge / Royal “ for Rev. George Cosby White
The pulpit was not, according to the Beauchamp archivist, in situ when the church was re-opened in 1864. There is no known dates for the pulpit and chancel screen that William carved other than the record above so I have dated the whole piece as 1889, although it is highly possible that the other carvings on the pulpit date from earlier than this
