Blenheim Palace Chapel, Pulpit. 1859
07.05.1859
The Builder reports “ This pulpit is erected in the Chapel of the palace at Blenheim, his Grace the Duke of Marlborough having commenced a complete recasting of the whole arrangements. The pulpit has a base of rich Devonshire marble, and the whole of the upper part is in Staffordshire alabaster, inlaid with glass mosaics, and with shafts of red marble. The sculptures are medallions of our Blessed Lord and the evangelists. The book-tray is of wrought brass, by Skidmore, and the execution of the marble and alabaster was by Forsyth. This, with stall work, organ and painted glass, is now, with a very rich reredos, proceeding under the direction of Mr. Teulon of Craig’s Court”
It was moved in 1900 to St Michael’s church, Waddesdon by the Duke of Marlborough. The photos were kindly provided by, and used with the permission of, the Rev'd Caroline Wainman of St Michael and All Saints church, Waddesdon
