The Worcester journal reports “ Consecration of St Nicholas church, Droitwich – The consecration of the above church, the foundation stone of which was laid on the 29th May 1867, took place yesterday….the font, given by Mrs. Miller, stands on a basement of York stone. The pedestal is formed of clustered columns, with red Mansfield stone shafts and carved Caen stone caps. The basin is of Painswick stone, carved in various parts. The inscriptions around the edge are – “Suffer little children to come unto me “ and “ Go and baptise all nations “. The font was carved by Forsyth, of Worcester, from designs by the architect “
