Great Malvern railway station, Stone carvings and design of Iron capitals 1862

The Worcestershire Chronicle reports “ THE NEW RAILWAY STATION – This station will shortly be opened. It was designed by Mr. Elmslie, and has been executed by Messrs. Wood and Sons, Worcester. The iron work for the roof of the covered platforms has been supplied from the Vulcan works, by Messrs. McKenzie, Clunes and Holland. Mr. Wittome is the clerk of the works, and Mr. Forsyth superintended the carving of the bosses and flowers of the semi-pillars “
The renovation of all the ironwork at Great Malvern station was completed in January 2024. All the detailed photographs below date from March 2025

There are 28 Iron work capitals in all, 14 on either side of the tracks. These are the 14 on the East side of the tracks, ordered from North to South, with two photos of each capital
