The Worcestershire Chronicle reports “ UPTON-ON-SEVERN MONUMENT TO THE LATE RECTOR - A very handsome mural monument has been placed in the parish church, to the memory of the late rector, the Rev. Henry Joseph Taylor, the necessary funds having been subscribed by many of his friends and parishioners. It is of red-veined alabaster, with a semicircular panel of black green serpentine, and a suitable inscription in gold incised letters. There is a richly-carved cornice at the top, and an enriched corbel moulding underneath. The panel is recessed, and bordered with mouldings carved with foliage. The character of the ornament is entirely continental gothic. The design was furnished by George Rowe Clarke, Esq., and executed by Mr. Forsyth, of Worcester “
